Attuned Motherhood

Mom and child connected and outside

Know yourself. Trust yourself. Find your family rhythm.

A more self-trusting mother. A more deeply seen child. A family life that makes room for both of you to be yourselves.

Motherhood changes us.

It asks us to love, adapt, respond, and grow in ways we couldn’t have anticipated. And somewhere along the way, it can become easy to lose touch with the woman beneath the role of mother.

We try to do things the way we’re supposed to. We look for the right answers, the right approach, the right way to respond to our children. We try to make things work—even when something inside us is telling us that the way we’re doing things doesn’t feel right.

Meanwhile, our children are their own people, with their own soul journey. What works for one child may not work for another. What we expect them to need may not be what they actually need. And our needs, energy, and capacity are part of the picture, too.

What if motherhood didn’t require you to abandon yourself?

What if, instead of searching endlessly for the right answer, you could become more attuned to yourself and your child—and learn to trust what you notice?

That’s the heart of Attuned Motherhood.

A private, three-session experience for mothers who want to understand themselves more deeply, see their children more clearly, and create a way of family life that honors the individuality of everyone in it.

Does this sound familiar?

  • You try and try to do things the way you’re “supposed” to, but end up feeling frustrated, depleted, resentful, or disconnected from yourself.

  • Trying to figure everything out and make things happen is exhausting.

  • You want to trust your own decisions, but find yourself second-guessing them or looking outside yourself for reassurance.

  • You wonder why your child responds so differently from you—or why what worked with one child doesn't work with another.

  • You want to understand your child's needs for movement, rest, connection, space, and time to process.

  • You want to parent differently from how you were parented and support your child's individuality rather than shape them into someone they're not.

  • You worry about the pace of modern life: the overstimulation, the pressure, the too-much-too-soon.

  • You want a family rhythm that makes room for nourishing food, meaningful connection, movement, rest, and unhurried play.

  • You feel that you've lost touch with parts of yourself and want to feel more grounded in who you are—not just in your role as a mother.

  • You're curious about self-discovery and parenting tools, but don't want another system that tells you what you should be doing.

You don’t need another list of rules to follow.
You need space to notice what is true for you, understand the child in front of you, and find your way of bringing that understanding into everyday life.

Imagine a different way of mothering

Imagine being able to:

Understand yourself beyond the role of mother.

Recognize your natural way of engaging with life, making decisions, and using your energy. Notice where you’ve been trying to operate according to expectations that don’t fit—and begin reconnecting with the woman you are.

Trust what you notice.

Become less dependent on outside answers and more able to pause, pay attention, and respond thoughtfully. Self-trust doesn't mean always knowing what to do. It means developing the confidence to listen to yourself as you navigate what comes.

See your child as an individual.

Understand that your child may have different needs, rhythms, ways of processing, and way of engaging with the world. Become more curious about who your child is rather than relying on who you expected them to be.

Make room for both of you.

Explore how your needs and your child’s needs interact. Perhaps your child needs movement while you need quiet. Perhaps after a full school day, your child needs alone time before connection. Perhaps a change in the family’s rhythm would make space for everyone to feel more settled.

Create rhythms that support family life.

Bring greater awareness to the ordinary patterns of your days: transitions, rest, meals, movement, play, and connection. Not a rigid schedule that must be followed perfectly, but a rhythm with enough consistency to provide grounding and enough flexibility to respond to real life.

Parent with greater intention.

Recognize where your own history, expectations, and conditioning may be influencing how you respond. Make more room for conscious choices about the kind of parent you want to be and the kind of relationship you want to build with your child.

  • ALIGN with your AUTHENTIC energetic way of being and making decisions.

    • Discover what makes really makes you You and stop trying to be who you are not.

  • UNDERSTAND your child’s energetic needs for movement and sleep.

    • Does your child need more rest and time to unwind or have lots of energy to expend? How does that fit with your own energy needs?

  • SUPPORT your child’s creative and decision-making processes.

    • Do they have an internal creative flow or are they more influenced by their environment?

    • Does it serve them better to be asked open-ended questions or yes/no questions?

  • Envision and EMBODY a truer version of yourself as a parent.

    • Understanding your own energetic blueprint can help you stay true to yourself through the sacred transformation of becoming a parent.

    • Meet your child’s unique needs and set them up for more success, while honoring and modeling living in your own alignment.

  • RECONNECT with parts of yourself that may have been suppressed.

    • We’ve been conditioned to act certain ways and value mental processes that aren’t in our highest, truest good.

  • EMPOWER your child’s development and understanding of themselves.

    • Do they learn better by trying many different things for themselves or investigating deeply?

    • Is their life journey more about the relationships in their life or the personal experiences they have?

  • Work WITH each of your energy type’s needs and experience more of your signature theme (peace, satisfaction, success, or delightful surprise).

    • Do they have emotional reactions to work through or is their truth more “in the now?”

  • Have more EASEFUL interactions and address challenges with the foundational knowledge of how you and your child are meant to move through life.

  • Get out of your “monkey mind” and into your BODY.

    • Help your child(ren) get into and stay in their body and their authentic self — we all start there, before our conditioning causes us to hide parts of ourselves and get all up in our heads.

  • Gain CONFIDENCE in your ability to authentically parent the unique child you have.

    • Children are spiritual beings and the process of really incarnating into their bodies takes time, needs nurturing.

    • Parent the way you desire: mindful of daily rhythms, warmth, movement, and connecting with your little one(s).

    • Begin your parenting journey with the foundation of energetic alignment as you get to know your baby and who they’re here to be, and they will have less “conditioning” to work through when they’re older.

“You can see that everything about bringing Type and Strategy into the world, I’ve had to do this through adults, but it’s for children…. I don’t want to suggest that you don’t pay attention to the adults. As a matter of fact, it’s the only way you can save the children. But it’s about realizing what this knowledge is actually about. It is knowledge that you’re supposed to be able to give to your children when they come into the world. In other words, it’s foundation knowledge.”

So, is this feeling good to you?

I invite you to discover your energetically innate way of being, for yourself and your parenting!

Hey, I’m Julie Behnken

Conscious Parenting Mentor &
Intuitive Human Design Guide

Supporting families and individuals in stepping into parenthood and beyond with confidence, compassion, and alignment.

I’ve learned a LOT along the way as a parent and want to share it with you!

I’ve been a parent for over 20 years, spending 13 of those years as a LifeWays (Waldorf-inspired) infant/toddler teacher, and, wow, I wish I had known about Human Design (and Waldorf philosophy) sooner! I have gained so much insight into myself and the important people in my life because of both. It’s an honor to support and empower people through the discovery of their Human Design, and I especially love supporting birthing people and their families on their journeys.

My Human Design and Astrology

As a sacral Manifesting Generator with a 2/4 profile and The Right Angle Cross of Penetration 2 incarnation cross, my Human Design orients me to “beginnings,” intuition, working with transformations, engaging with my community, responding to the environment around me, and embodying the physical as a means to transcendence. I am the parent of an emotionally-defined, 6/2 Projector, and Human Design helps me to support my son in the best way for him as he begins to make his way in this crazy world, and, in hindsight, it sheds light on struggles he faced when he was a young child. I can only imagine how I’d have parented differently (and better) if I’d known Human Design (and Waldorf philosophy) when he was very young. Better late than never, but the sooner, the better, too!

The astrological sign of Cancer is considered the cosmic mother archetype, and as a Cancer Sun and Rising, nurturing those who are becoming parents (or parents again) is my calling. My Taurus moon lends a sense of comfort, can find the beauty in things, and keeps things practical.

I’ve been into astrology for most of my adult life, and have been eagerly digging into Human Design since I discovered it in 2018, learning on my own and through live online programs.

Parenthood is a Sacred Transformation

Each person’s life, birthing, and parenting journey on this earth is unique to them, but societal norms and expectations, gender roles, and our American culture’s disregard for what people and families really need to thrive lead to most of us being conditioned out of what really serves us. We all experience challenges, but if you are all too familiar with the feeling of frustration, anger, bitterness or disappointment as you keep trying to do what you’re “supposed” to do, it’s time to uncover your unique energetic design.  Just because something is COMMON doesn’t mean it’s NORMAL for you.  Your type, strategy, authority, and profile are the guideposts for living the experiment of “your normal” that will truly serve you, and therefore, the world around you.

Becoming a parent is a profoundly transformational, SACRED time (whether for the first time or again), a threshold moment of opening for you and your child. In the Waldorf philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, each child is a soul (a star child) who has chosen to incarnate on the earth with their chosen parents for this life journey.  Human Design illuminates the soul’s purpose and gifts, based on the moment of birth and 88 days before birth. You are on a physical and spiritual journey with each other.

After completing her LifeWays Early Childhood Certificate program, she was the owner of StarSong LifeWays Child Care for 10 years (a licensed, in-home Waldorf-inspired program and LifeWays representative site in Boulder, Colorado). In true Mani-Gen fashion, she’s worked and trained in fashion design, technical writing, early childhood development and infant/toddler care, postpartum doula, reiki for birth and postpartum, postpartum nutrition, Human Design, and has a Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies.

Julie loves to read, knit, eat good (gluten-free) food, learn and share information (often exploring “rabbit holes” of information about human design and astrology, holistic health, organizing, and old houses), and connect with her now-adulting son (Projector and Taurus) in Denver.  She strives to be a better gardener and to do more yoga and Pilates. Julie lives in Colorado with her partner, Charlene, a 2/4 emotionally defined Generator and Leo.

Wow, thanks for reading to the end! The first step is a simple, no-pressure conversation to see if we’re a good fit.
